Meeting Notes 04-27-2010
West Point Info:
Tonight was all about backpack inspections. Chris said they didn’t get to revise the menus so those who are shopping tomorrow will have to make some executive decisions. He wants to have foods that don’t require a lot of prep and aren’t perishable. Shoppers are to meet at Clinton ShopRite at 7PM tomorrow night (Wednesday). Justin volunteered for the Owls.
All scouts are supposed to come back to the church on Thursday night at 7PM to load the food and the troop gear into the backpacks. Chris said if all goes well it should only take an hour. If you cannot make it Thursday night, you must arrive at 3PM at the church on Friday to load your pack.
Everyone needs to arrive at the church on Friday at 3:30. The plan is to pull out before 4PM. Chris is adamant about this because if the trail at West Point is closed when they arrive, they will have to turn around and come home. The troop has signed up to be light backpackers called Light Fighters. They are estimating arrival back at the church on Sunday around 2PM.
Don’t forget to bring a bag with dinner on Friday to eat on the road. Jay said there will be no time to stop at McDonald’s or any place like that.
Chris read the list of activities – it sounds like it will be a very fun and interesting weekend. He mentioned they’ll get to see the West Point drill team which is supposed to be awesome. Chris said all the craziness they are going through will be well worth it once they get there.
Anyone who ordered a patch will have their $3 applied to their dues, as the patches are included in the registration cost.
The district recognition dinner is the Saturday before Mother’s day – please come out and support our adults who are being honored.
Next week’s meeting starts at 7PM.
Boys should sign up for the May 8 Trail Day.
Family campout forms are due on May 11.
The Jambo fundraiser going on now is discounted Dorney Park tickets. The boys only have two more weeks to get in their money. Also, anyone interested in buying tickets should see any one of the Jambo kids.
Chris mentioned that they are planning a Dorney day in August for the entire troop. So, if you want to go to that, purchase your ticket now and get the discount.
Earth Day concession profit was $900.
